NORTHERN MICHIGAN (WPBN/WGTU) — After 19 years of publication, Grand Traverse Woman magazine is coming to an end as of July 1, 2021.

However, a new publication is in the works titled Northern Michigan Woman.

Publisher Kerry Winkler said the magazine will be similar to GTWoman as it will continue to focus on connecting women in business, health, home, family, inspiration and more.

Northern Michigan Woman will also hold networking events and a platform for advertising.

While the publishing team is mostly the same people from GTWoman, Winkler said she hopes to connect with more people on social media and expand beyond the Grand Traverse region.

“I’m hoping to expand further up the tip of the mitt towards Petoskey, Charlevoix, over towards Gaylord,” Winkler said. “I’d love to expand our reach, which is part of the digital aspect of it – we can deliver the issue all over.”

After 18 years of working alongside her twin sister at Grand Traverse Woman, Winkler said the pandemic allowed them to take a step back and make the tough decision to both try new things separately.

“I would also like to give a huge shout out to our writers who have opened their hearts and our minds to their journeys. I appreciate the inspiration you have given women over the years! That goes hand in hand with GTW readers! Thank you all for reading, sharing and enjoying GTWoman,” wrote Winkler.

Northern Michigan Woman will be published bi-monthly and will be available digitally, as well as at local newsstands.
